Two Rooms was recorded in the basement of an aging office building in downtown Portland. Captured using two microphones placed on either end of a long concrete room, while Jones + Fischer, along with their instruments and amplifiers, performed in an adjacent room, the four pieces flow together as one seamless album. The resulting sound is lush, warm and cavernous while still remaining intimate at times.

Kind of ambient, I suppose, but different from the run of the mill in an innovative sort of way. Very atmospheric, in places mesmerizing.

Right away (well, by the three minute mark, at least) you'll notice an almost menacing intensity not usually present on a loscil album. Track two picks up the pace. Monument Builders feels like an outlier in loscil's catalogue, but still built on the same incredible level of quality and execution, it also fits perfectly within it.
